Jennifer's Body Review

Out of most of the horror movies I was/have seen this year I was not expecting to enjoy "Jennifer's Body" as much as I did. Lets get the basics of why this movie was good, the soundtrack for one. This movie has a ton of good music which was surprising to me. Its not a kill, kill, kill kind of horror movie but more so a very present day B-Rate movie. Some of the one-liners in the movie are just priceless. The story follows Jennifer's best friend trying to stop Jennifer from eating all the boy in the town. Its gets pretty bloody and the ending is fuckign awesome. I don't want to post any spoilers from this movie, I do recommend anyone who likes demon b-rate movies to definitley go see this one. I want to see it again ASAP!!!
did I mention you see Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried make out pretty hardcore in this movie? and again the ending is just awesome. 8skulls hands down for this movie.

Sorrority Row Review

Any time a horror movie has hot girls, murder and senseless nudity it pretty much means its hitting every major point in horror movie awesomeness. Although I wasen't too happy with how this particular movie ended I enjoyed Sorority Row for 3 main reason (no not the 3 I listed in the first sentence)Those reasons being:
1) Original Murder Scenes-
The death scenes in Sorority Row were pretty original, some of them you will have seen in other movies but I felt that for and american made horror movie in a college atomsphere it has some great and very creative murdering. Also to touch on that the weapon the killer uses is not only something you expect but at the same time something you don't expect. Kudos to SR for that!!!
2) Plot Twists-
You always are wondering in the movie "who is the killer?" and at one point your expecting one person of being that killer and 3 plot changes later your totally in the dark as to who it is. Now I will say that when you do find out who the killer is you may be kind of disappointed.. well atleast I was but I will give it to them, They did leave me guessing on to who to blame for the murders.
3) Finally as lame as a reason this is - Openning to a sequel-
Yes this movie is left wide open for a sequel, and yes this one wasen't all it was cracked up to be but they can do some serious fucking awesome shit for a sequel.. that of course means they'd have to do it right.

Overall, some of the acting is fairly rough (thats to be expected from a star taken from Mtv's the Hills) but its still worth seeing. Although if your really trying to get a scare factor to your maximum this is not the movie for that, this is more of a fun "chickflick horror" take your girlfriend to see and if shes like mine.. then she'll be scared. I'm being generous when I give it this rating but 7 skulls for this one.

Dark Room Theater Double Feature looks surprisingly funny..

Apple.com always has some awesome trailers to check out, in my search of the newest (as of every friday/wednesday) I came across Dark Room Theater. It has a very Tales from the Crypt esq feel to it.. of course in a very B Movie feel. This is what Apple.com Synopsis said about it:
Dark Room Theater is a double feature in the vein of The Twilight Zone, about ordinary people who find themselves in extraordinary, usually supernatural, situations, using both ironic and comic twists. The show is hosted by an animated character entitled Dr. Brainly, a brain that lives in a glass beaker from an experiment gone wrong or right depending on your point of view.

Todd McFarlane's Haunt is finally here!!!

The long anticipated comic collaberation of Robert Kirkman and Todd McFarlane has finally been put in to pressing. The first issue being released by Image Comics (most famous for McFarlanes SPAWN) will hit sometime in October and is going to be hot!!!
The title centers on a pair of brothers, Kurt and Daniel Kilgore, who couldn't care less for one another. Kurt, a secret agent, and Daniel, a less than holy priest, bond in a way neither of them expects after Kurt's untimely death. A surprise fusing of Kurt's ghost with Daniel's body creates a chain reaction, turning the brothers into the character, Haunt.
Kirkman had alot to say about Haunt and working with McFarlane calling it "a dream come true".. reserve your first copy at your local comic shop today!!

Blood of Killers is a look in to the mind of..Killers

Visions.. a book you gotta ... SEE!

I apologize to all my readers out there in horror land for my lack of updates the past few weeks. I have also been slacking with the Horror Heroes on Friday but will be rebooting them starting this Friday!!

The end of August marks a few major points during the year.. The end of summer.. The beginning of fall .. and of course
The Countdown to HALLOWEEN!!!
So its only appropriate that with the coming of Halloween we see more movies, more comics and of course more books in the genres of horror. One coming out September 29th is Lawrence C. Connolly's Visions. A book of short stories in the realms of Science Ficion and the surreal fantasies where eerie things can happen. Check out what Horror.com had to say about it:

For three decades, Lawrence C. Connolly has defied category, writing across genre to create stories where dreams are reality, the future is now, and a lone madman may be the sanest person in the room.

Presented here with all new introductions that discuss the origins of the stories and featuring a retrospective essay about the road to publication and beyond, Visions: Fantasy & SF is a must for lovers of dark fantasy, science fiction, and heroic adventure.
the book comes out the 29th and will retail for $16.00
check it out at your local Barnes and Noble or Amazon.com
